Holidays
always evoke fond memories, and many of those memories are centered
around entertaining and food. This year why not incorporate some of the
finest food products available on your holiday table; Kentucky-grown and
raised meats, produce, wines and other items are supplied by more than
2,500 producers around the state through the Kentucky Proud marketing
program. Products and recipes can be found at
www.kyproud.com.
Chefs at the Governor’s Mansion routinely incorporate Kentucky Proud
products in seasonal dishes that grace the first family’s table.
Kentucky Proud products are also showcased at the
Kentucky State Resort Parks and in award-winning restaurants throughout the state.
The holiday season is a great time to visit Kentucky. In
Frankfort, you’ll find the
Governor’s Mansion and
Capitol
dressed up in holiday finery, as the state’s top leaders welcome
visitors for tours at this special time of year. For the first time
since it was rejuvenated in 2009, the
Old Governor’ Mansion
will be open for holiday tours. The tour will include the “must haves"
of a Christmas southern kitchen and Christmas dining at its Kentucky
best.
Frankfort is also a great starting point for a tour of Kentucky’s famous
Bourbon Country. The distilleries always entertain visitors with great
hospitality during the holidays. Sampling the spirits may also help put
you in the holiday spirit for those over 21.
