Edmonton, the heart of Metcalfe County, was founded by Edmund Rogers, surveyor and the first cousin of General George Rogers Clark. . The city lies at the junction of US 68, KY 80 and KY 163 on the Little Barren River. City limits extend to the Louie B. Nunn Parkway. The town is in a period of unprecedented growth with construction of a multi-million dollar Metcalfe County Judicial Center, a new ultra modern City Hall, and complete renovation of the Metcalfe County Public Library going on at three corners of the public square. Sitting stately in the middle of the new construction is the historic Metcalfe County Courthouse, one of the oldest courthouses still in operation.
