About

Located in southcentral Kentucky, Glasgow is located  in the Caves, Lakes & Corvettes region of Kentucky. Convenient to the sites and attractions of the area in and around Mammoth Cave National Park, Glasgow, indeed, has a history and charm all its own.

Founded in 1799 by a group of Revolutionary War veterans, Glasgow boasts historic homes and buildings, the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center, downtown walking/driving tours, Barren River Lake State Resort Park and Brigadoon State Nature Preserve. Glasgow is the home of Fort Williams, an earthern fortification built by the Union in 1863 to protect the area from Confederate infantry raiders. The fort, restored in the 1980's, is located at the rear of the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Parks, sports, golf and fishing top the list for outdoor recreation in Glasgow, and the Barren River Lake is the place to go for on-water recreation. The Glasgow Highland Games takes place each year at the State Park the weekend following Memorial Day.

Glasgow is the birthplace of musician Billy Vaughn, Diane Sawyer and former NBC president, Julian Goodman. Its citizens are friendly and hospitable and work together to make the community the best it can be. Glasgow guarantees to offer visitors "a good feeling to take home with them."
