Historic Springfield, county seat of Washington county Kentucky dates back to 1793. Main streets old buildings reflect Washington county's respect for the past.The present courthouse, completed in 1816 is the oldest courthouse in the state still in use. The Opera House built in 1902 is under renovation.

St. Catharine, home of the Dominician Sisters since 1822 and home of St. Catharine College. The Walton Homestead dates 1784 on the National Register.
