GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Camp Nelson RV Park occupies historic grounds overlooking the Kentucky River Palisades. The area was first believed to be a location favored by Daniel Boone to ford the Kentucky River. Named after General William Nelson of the U.S. Army, he utilized the property as a camp during the civil war. Also, it proved to be a valuable recruiting as well as training grounds for African American soldiers during the Civil War. Today, the park accommodates guest with modern conveniences including: 60 RV sites, 30 traditional camping sites and stunning views of the Kentucky River. Access to the Kentucky River will keep both paddlers and anglers entertained, in addition, campers will be delighted with the refreshing swimming pool and a variety of other recreational facilities.
