38 miles, paved, open to vehicles, hikers, bikers and equestrians, part of the Pine Mountain State Scenic Trail

The Little Shepherd Trail stretches 38 miles along the crest of Pine Mountain. Part of the Pine Mountain State Scenic Trail, the entirety of the Little Shepherd has been paved. It is open to all types of access, from motor vehicles to foot traffic. Home to great vistas and overlooks, the Little Shepherd Trail provides some of the best scenes in south eastern Kentucky. It is not unusual for visitors to see Black Bears while on the Little Shepherd, as well as whitetail deer and other wildlife that inhabit the area.
