3,395 acres, steep and rugges, mostly forested, jointly purchased and managed by KDFWR & Div. of Forestry, open to state wide hunting seasons
On the mountain tops above Pineville is the Kentucky Ridge Forest Wildlife Management Area. This WMA covers part of Pine Mountain and the adjoining Cumberland Plateau. There area itself is very steep and rugged. There are some patches that have been previously mined or logged, while the rest is full of more natural, untouched vegetation. This combination provides good habitat for deer, turkey and grouse. Aside from hunting, visitors who enjoy scenic views will find some at Kentucky Ridge Forest, but like the hunters, will have to work for it.
