Southeastern Breathitt County is home to the Paul Van Booven Wildlife Management Area. This 2,300 acres area is reclaimed surface mining land that is now owned by the University of Kentucky to conduct research projects related to forestry & reclamation. Visitors will find a number of different game species as well as high numbers of song birds.
