7,731 acres in Bath & Menifee counties, primitive hunting, primitive camping
Pioneer Weapons Wildlife Management Area sits along the western shores of scenic Cave Run Lake. What makes this WMA so unique is that hunting is limited to primitive weapons only. Hunters may use a longbow, crossbow, or muzzle-loading firearm in their hunt. Lying mostly in Bath County, Pioneer Weapons has an abundance of wild game as well as great views of one of the most popular lakes in eastern Kentucky. Primitive camping is available on the WMA, however, there are developed campsites and RV sites scattered along the lake or the surrounding area. Pioneer Weapons Wildlife Management area is truly a one-of-a-kind hunting destination.
