GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The first eastern Kentucky Trail Town was designated in the summer of 2013 in Livingston. A community in Rockcastle County, Livingston sits within the Daniel Boone National Forest. Surrounded by natural resources, adventure seekers can find plenty to keep them busy in Livingston. Just down the road from the renowned Renfro Valley Entertainment Center, Livingston is an easy drive from Interstate 75. The Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail passes through the forest just out of Livingston, which sits very near the mid way point on its 300 mile journey. The Red Hill Horse Camp is a popular destination for horse back riders and riders can now ride into town and hitch their horses at the trailhead while they enjoy time in town. There are also mountain bike trails in and around Livingston, and they can be rented from A Country Pedaler. River adventures are also a popular draw to Livingston. Float tubes are also available at A Country Pedaler, and kayakers regularly float the river. Fishing is good in this stretch of the river for bass and native walleye, and hunters can enjoy thousands of acres in the National Forest. Livingston has renovated the historic Livingston School in the heart of town to serve as their Trail Town Visitor Center. Visitors can stop in and learn about all there is to do in and around Livingston and make reservations for bikes, float tubes, campgrounds and more.
