12.5 miles total,College Hill to Boonesborough, fishing for largemouth & Kentucky bass, muskellunge also found in this pool, 6.6 & 6 mile float options
While floating down Pool 10 of the Kentucky River, it is easy to forget how close you are to Winchester and Richmond, Kentucky. This twelve and a half mile stretch of river is sheltered from the hustle and bustle of the nearyby populated areas. Beginning in Madison County at lock and dam11 and flowing downstream to lcok and dam 10 at Fort Boonesborough State Park, paddlers and anglers have plenty to enjoy on this trip. Not only does this part of the river hold largemouth and Kentucky (spotted) bass, but it also has muskellungee that call it home. An experienced paddler should be able to complete the entire float in one day, but there are options to split the trip into six and a half and six miles. This area of the river is deep with history and was once home to numerous ferries. Access to Red River, one of Kentucky's native muskie streams, is also available via pool 10.
