General Description

Beginning lock and dam nine in southern Fayette county and stretching along the Jessamine county border to lock and dam eight, Pool 8 of the Kentucky River provides some of the best fishing potential. One reason this stretch is so productive is that it allows access to three creeks that are proven fishing holes in their own right. Sugar Creek, Paint Lick Creek and Silver Creek can all be productive, and each may be accessed via Pool 8. There are four boat ramps and one carry down ramp on this pool, making it easy to customize your float trip length. This stretch of river will also bring paddlers to the beginning of the Kentucky RIver Palisades. An impressive geological monument, the Palisades are one of the true naturtal wonders of central Kentucky.
