GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Daniel Boone is viewed by many as the epitome of wilderness travel and exploration. Fort Boonesborough State Park seeks to not only preserve his memory, but to offer insight into what life was like when Daniel Boone blazed a trail across the commonwealth. The fort has been reconstructed as a working fort complete with artisans displaying various craft demonstrations. Fort Boonesborough is not only a great history lesson, but also a great place for adventure. The park borders the Kentucky River where there are opportunities for good fishing. They also have ramps to access the river by boat. The Kentucky River Walk Trail highlights unique features to that section of the river valley including plant and wildlife, and geological and historical sites. Camping is popular at the park with 167 sites including four pull through sites for large rigs/RVs.
