Another popular, multistate cycling route is the Mississippi River Trail. Although there are only 65 miles that riders experience in Kentucky, the entire trail covers more than 3,000 miles through seven states bordering the mighty river. Traveling south from Illinois, riders will enter Kentucky just outside of Wickliffe in Ballard County. Heading South cyclists will enjoy the flat, river bottom terrain that makes up the scenic landscapes of western Kentucky. Passing through Hickman, riders will then enter into Tennessee just west of Reelfoot National Wildlife Refuge.
