Rapids up to class IV-V depending on season, 180+ miles of horse trails, overnight boarding and stalls for horses, several opportunities for mountain bikers through Mountain Bike Club trails and horse trails, fisahing is available throughout the area, hunting is also allowed within the park depending on season, etc.
One of the most popular destinations for adventure seekers in the Southern United States, Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area has something to offer everyone. The area itself is split between the both Kentucky and Tennessee. Some of the best paddling in the country can be found at Big South Fork with seasonal class V rapids. Bear Creek Horse Camp is located on the Kentucky side of Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area. It provides developed campsites for 23 equestrian users. Each site has tie-outs for four horses, and plenty of amenities to keep campers and horses comfortable. Located on Bear Creek Road west of Stearns, it provides easy access to miles and miles of trails within Big South Fork. Be sure to take care to use proper food storage while camping in the area due to black bears also being present.
