Kentucky Adventure Racing season
Spring is a great time to be outdoors in Kentucky. This spring is even more exciting due to some new & exciting events coming to Kentucky. The 2012 Unbridled Adventure Race Series and the 2012 Mudathlon tour are both coming to Kentucky this spring!
Kentucky's Office for Adventure Tourism is excited to bring you this Unbridled Adventure Racing Series that will feature four races to be held at four different Kentucky State Parks. Designed to introduce beginners to the sport of adventure racing, the series kicks off with the 4-hour adventure race at General Butler State Resort Park on June 9, 2012 and ends with the 12-hour Red River Gorge American Classic, or "The Fig" as it has become known. The Fig also serves as a regional qualifier for the 2013 USARA National Championship, and will be hosted at Natural Bridge State Resort Park. The Mudathlon is not your ordinary race through the woods. Mudathlon races cover three miles, and feature over 40 fun and challenging obstacles. Creek crossings, net climbs, tunnels of terror, high walls and of course, plenty of mud pits are obstacles comeptitors can expect to encounter. Mudathlon isn't solely about the competition though, its also about having a good time. All athletes get to enjoy the post race celebrations and entertainment. The 2012 tour features four stops in the midwest region, with the first on June 2, 2012 at General Butler State Resort Park.
