About

ROYAL SPRINGS PARK?- The "birthplace of bourbon" and Kentucky's largest spring. It is believed that Baptist Minister Elijah Craig made the first batch of Kentucky bourbon here in 1789. The park also includes McClellan's Fort built in 1776, the site of the first paper mill in the West (1793), site of the first fulling mill in Kentucky (1789) as well as an 1874 cabin built by former slave Milton Leach. In 2010 the Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission built the Royal Spring Pavilion as a gift to the Community. The Park is located at Water and West Main Street.
