Located on the Licking River, Salyersville, Kentucky serves as the eastern end of the Mountain Parkway. The area was settled by pioneers wanting to find a good place to settle and raise their families. Residents today are, for the most part, descendants of these hardy pioneers who carved from the wilderness homeplaces and livelihoods for their families. These descendants continue to live on and love the land of their illustrious ancestors. The annual Magoffin County Founder's Day Festival works toward honoring these ancestors by showing pride in Eastern Kentucky heritage.
