Butler-Turpin State Historic House

The Butler-Turpin State Historic House pays homage to one of Kentucky's foremost military families from Colonial times through the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Mexican War and the Civil War. Home to Kentucky's 1st Adjutant General - Revolutionary War soldier, Percival Butler and his sons Major Thomas Langford Butler and General William Orlando Butler for whom General Butler State Resort Park is named. The historic house built of native masonry construction in the Greek Revival style has a commanding view of the Ohio River Valley. A traditional four over four with central hallways, basement,third floor and detached kitchen retaining many of its original features, which includes the woodwork, the fireplace mantels, the staircase, and the flooring in the upstairs section of the house. The collection consists of orignal military documents along with family pieces including both furniture and objects.
