Once known as Poor Fork, Cumberland is Harlan County’s largest city.  Come and visit the beautiful mountains of Southeastern Kentucky, with its beautiful mountain overlooks,  nature trails, and wildlife.   The City of Cumberland is documented as the Black Bear Capital of Kentucky.  Many Black Bears and their cubs are sighted in many areas throughout Cumberland. Situated on Pine Mountain is Kingdom Come State Park with it's 1,283 acres the park is a popular attraction for many in the area.  Cumberland has a rich history of coal and Appalachian culture.  Preparing its young people for the future, Cumberland is the home of Southeast Community College.  If you want a quality education within a lovely landscape, you’ll find a home in Cumberland.
