Pleasant Retreat (begun ca 1804) is the restored and furnished home of Ky's 16th governor, William Owsley. Tours, teas, box lunches, luncheons available by reservation for groups of ten or more. Joint tours with the White House at Camp Nelson and the William Whitley House in Stanford are available. Old kitchen with low ceiling and enormous fireplaces and hearth. Beautiful Federal portion of house features restored parlor dining room, reception area and bedrooms. Wallpaper painted in Paris, France in 1818 gives the conference room a look of elegance.
