Abraham Lincoln

He served as the sixteenth President of the United States, and is one of the most iconic figures in the history of our nation. His has a legacy that is still vigorously discussed and debated even today, and he was born in Kentucky.

Although Lincoln lived in Kentucky but a short period of time, much of his life was predicated on his relationships to Kentucky and its people. And the circumstances and issues that surrounded him, divided this country into a bloody Civil War, and shaped our country after that war are very much a part of the Kentucky story.

We invite you to rediscover Abraham Lincoln by visiting the site of his birth and home place at the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park, as well as other sites on the Lincoln Heritage Trail.
