Located in the heart of historic downtown Stearns, KY the McCreary County Museum is housed in the old Stearns Coal and Lumber Company Corporate headquarters that was built in 1907. The exhibits cover many facets of Appalachian life and reveal the heritage of the people of McCreary County. The Museum interprets for our visitor's life as it was lived during the different periods of time from the earliest inhabitants of pre-colonial times to the residents of the last quarter of the twentieth century including the 'Boom' times of the coal and lumber industry in McCreary County. We are open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission prices are $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for seniors, $3.00 for children, and no charge for children under 5. McCreary County Residents get in free on Sundays and Museum Members are always admitted free.
