Kentucky Downs is the home of North America's only all-turf (grass) flat racing Thoroughbred track. It was first named the "Dueling Grounds" in reference to a nearby site that was famous for pistol duels in the 1820's. The "Downs" has been recently obtained by new owners who have made extensive renovations, and added a full bar. Live this years live Thoroughbred horse racing is September 10, 12, 17 and 19, 2011. The highlight of the fall meet is the 15th annual Kentucky Cup Turf Festival and will feature 6 major turf stakes. These events feature some of the nations finest horses, jockeys, and trainers. Post times (CDT) 12:10 p.m. Saturdays; 1:45 p.m. Mondays. The simulcast schedule may be viewed on the Kentucky Downs website. Simulcast racing is seen year-round on several large screens.
