Duncan Center Museum & Art Gallery
Duncan Center Museum & Art Gallery

William Graham Duncan Sr. built this beautiful home located at 122 South Cherry Street in 1912 for a mere $10,000. The outside of the house is Spanish Mission style and made of white stucco. As you enter the living room, you will find beautiful paneled walls made of cherry, walnut, and mahogany. Moving into the dining area, tiger oak enhances the walls. Oak bordered inlaid hardwood floors gives grace to the floors in the living, dining and master bedroom. This stately home stayed within the Duncan family for many decades. In 1986, grandson, Hamilton Richardson Duncan graciously donated the house to the city of Greenville. In 1987, the home became known as the Duncan Center Museum & Art Gallery serving to preserve the art, history, and culture of Muhlenberg County.

Throughout the year, artists and artisans exhibit their work in the gallery. Art exhibitions come in various Medias and can be viewed annually from April through September. Also located within the Duncan Center is W.G. Duncan Coal Museum.  The museum contains various artifacts and memorabilia from Muhlenberg County’s rich coal history. The exhibits showcase how Kentucky was at one time the nation’s largest coal producer with Muhlenberg County being the largest coal producing county in the U.S. for two years in the 1960s.

Be sure to stop by and visit the Duncan Center Museum & Art Gallery! We look forward to seeing you!
