Lewis & Clark Expedition

2003-2006 marks the bicentennial commemoration of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark’s “Corps of Discovery” exploration. On October 14, 1803 at the Falls of the Ohio, Lewis and Clark, accompanied by York, the enslaved African American of William Clark (making him the first known African-American to cross the United States), began the first transcontinental trek across America.
