Tickets go on sale Sep 8 for Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, viewed by more than 22 million people worldwide and hailed as a must-see. The Exhibition features 150 artifacts and opens at the Louisville Science Center on October 3. The Exhibition has been designed with a focus on the legendary RMS Titanic’s compelling human stories as best told through authentic artifacts. Described as a floating palace, the incomparable Titanic was deemed “practically unsinkable” by the White Star Line and its builders. However, on a calm April night in 1912, the massive luxury liner struck an iceberg and slowly sank into the North Atlantic. Visitors are quickly drawn back in time to 1912, as each receives a replica boarding pass of an actual passenger aboard Titanic. Visitors are then immersed in the Exhibition as they take a chronological journey through Titanic; from the ship’s construction to life on board, the ill fated sinking, and amazing artifact recovery efforts. Towards the end of their journey, visitors will enter the “Memorial Gallery” where they will take their boarding pass to the memorial wall and learn if their passenger and traveling companions survived or perished. The Exhibition is produced by Atlanta based, RMS Titanic, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Premier Exhibitions, Inc. RMS Titanic, Inc. is the only entity permitted by law to recover objects from the wreck of Titanic. The Company was granted Salvor-in-possession rights to the wreck of Titanic by a United States federal court in 1994 and has conducted seven research and recovery expeditions to Titanic, recovering more than 5,500 artifacts.

In selecting the 67 pieces which make up the exhibit, juror Todd Birdsong looked for presentation, skill, content and vision. The show includes a painting by 12-year-old Gregory Willett of Fancy Farm, Kentucky as well as works by more experienced professionals. Mr. Birdsong states, “While the majority of the work was traditional in terms of visual exploration, each work selected for the exhibition allowed me to experience a moment of emotion and resonated with me in some way. I appreciate artist works that have a powerful sense of vision and concept regardless of their training or technical mastery of their chosen media. I believe that those artists who are creating spirited works are not only growing personally, but professionally as well.” He considered it “an enlightening experience to see all of the quality work produced by some of this area’s talented artists.” Sixty-two artists from Kentucky and Tennessee submitted over 140 entries to be considered for this year’s show.

Southern Lights has become a time honored tradition. The Kentucky Horse Park Foundation celebrated their 14th annual presentation of the lights in 2007, winning two prestigious awards in the process. The fundraiser was ranked in the Top 10 Kentucky Festivals this year and in the Top 20 Events in the Southeast five years running. The 2007 showing attracted over 100,000 people.

In this sequel to the ever popular New York hit 'Smoke on the Mountain', the Sanders family returns to Mount Pleasant, NC, home of the Mount Pleasant Pickle Factory. It's Christmas Eve, 1941. Reverend Oglethorpe has invited them to the Baptist church to sing and witness, getting the congregation into the down home holiday spirit before the boys, including one of the Sanders' own, are shipped off to World War II.
