This 1-day workshop is intended for beginners interested in learning more about hot glass. You will receive instruction on glassblowing fundamentals such as, how to gather out of the furnace, how to use a variety of tools to shape, cool, heat, and blow the glass. This is a very intensive, basic introduction to glass that will allow you to determine whether you would like to further your experience in working with hot glass. On the second Saturday of each month, studios and galleries in the LowerTown Arts District host extended hours and feature new exhibits and entertainment. Also, Quilt Museum guided tours and special events, and morning Tai Chi at the Texaco Station in LowerTown.

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft presents its popular annual holiday extravaganza, Holidazzle. This year’s Holidazzle will feature a stunning variety of fine American craft, including ceramics, glass, jewelry, wearables and much more; the show will fill both of the Museum’s major exhibition galleries. More than 100 artists from across the country will submit knockout works of art that will appeal to holiday shoppers and craft collectors alike. Elise Meredith Beattie's 2009 exhibition at the Anne Pl Baker Gallery is a visual diary of one artist's experiences at the "lost and found" file of creativity. The exhibition will include approximately 35 paintings created between 2005 and 2009. The artist's passion is communicated through the use of wet into wet techniques, which create a luminous light filled composition, topped with a cornucopia of pattern.

Berea Arts Council invites you to visit its new Winter Gift Event, Original Art…Original Gift, an invitational exhibit of artwork created by local artists. This exhibit is in celebration of the winter holidays, and will run November 6 through December 23, with an opening reception on November 6, from 5:30 to 7:30pm. There will also be an open house the day of the Christmas Parade, December 5, from 4 to 6 pm. Thanksgiving Platter Workshop saturdays in November, 1-4pm Large $250 Extra Large $325 Looking for the perfect presentation for your tasty, gourmet holiday masterpiece? Join us in the Walk-in Workshop and make more than a turkey this Thanksgiving! Using the fusing and slumping method, you'll design a layered glass platter to be fused (melted), then slumped (placed on a mold and heated to "slump" into the mold's shape). You may choose from two platter sizes: Large (18"x14") and Extra Large (18 1/2"x18 1/2"). Going back for seconds is no problem! Class maximum is 6. No previous glass experience is necessary. Platters will be completed in one afternoon but will require a 2 nights in the kiln. Your piece will be finished and ready for pick up no later than a week after the workshop.

On Saturday, November 28, Joanne Hobbs of Bardstown will create goose feather Christmas trees from 10:30 am – 3:30 pm at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea. Through trial and error, Joanne taught herself how these trees were made and in 1990 began her career making goose feather Christmas trees, helping to revive a nearly lost art.

Blizzard Workshop: fused snowflakes Saturdays in December 1-4pm You begin by cutting long strips of glass that you will layer into a geometric snow flake shape. The Walk-In Workshop staff will teach you how to score the glass using a carbide glass cutter and will give you design tips to help you create a work of art.
