Horsin’ Around is a nonprofit camp facility that provides children with chronic
illness and physical disabilities an environment of inclusion, companionship
and fun. Our mission is to create an atmosphere that nurtures physical and
mental development. We have enhanced the notions of a traditional camp by
having the facilities and tools necessary to address the special needs of these
children. Here, campers will have the chance to spend time with other children
who share in their experience, learn, play, create and work on projects in a
safe and healthy environment.
Horsin’ Around helps children find healing through engagement. It is a place to
overcome adversity, to achieve goals and develop skills. Children experience
the adventures of boating, fishing, swimming, climbing, and exploration on our
191 acre fully handicap accessible camp. Operating year-round, we offer many
programs at CHA including support services for families. Through collaboration
with the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital and Hospice of the
Bluegrass, the camp will also offer special programs for children who have lost
a loved one to terminal illness and for siblings of ill children.
