the "America's Most Haunted Neighborhood" tour
The most haunted neighborhood in America? That’s what many are calling Old Louisville, an extensive preservation district filled with old mansions and strikingly beautiful homes in Kentucky’s largest city. Wherever you go in this eye-popping neighborhood, it seems that a haunted house is not far away. Or a haunted church, a haunted street corner, or a haunted park. Over the last two decades, so many stories of supernatural activity have surfaced here that Old Louisville has gained the reputation as being the spookiest neighborhood in the entire country. Join a guide for this nightly tour that introduces you to the ghostly past and paranormal hotspots in America’s Most Haunted Neighborhood. Best enjoyed against the backdrop of gas lamps and hidden walking courts, this haunted history tour has received awards and accolades from national and international publications. Offered daily at 7:30 pm from March 15 to November 15 (call for times during the off-season), this walking tour takes approximately 90 minutes and costs $20 per person. This tour is based on David Domine’s book True Ghost Stories and Eerie Legends from America’s Most Haunted Neighborhood. David himself is very often the guide.
the "America's Most Exuberant Neighborhood" tour
Since it was declared a historic preservation district in the 1970s, many have considered Old Louisville the most architecturally exuberant neighborhoods in the country. With more than a thousand old homes, it’s one of the largest as well. Constructed primarily between 1880 and 1905, the residences in Old Louisville showcase a wide variety of building styles, including Châteauesque, Richardsonian-Romanesque, Italianate, Victorian Gothic, and Queen Anne – just to name a few. If you like old homes and fabulous architecture, this is a tour you won’t want to miss. A knowledgeable guide will share stories and architectural details while you walk the neighborhood and view its most impressive structures. At the same time, you will learn about the bourbon barons, racetrack royalty, and tobacco titans who lived there and hear the stories of how they and other colorful characters made this historic district America’s Most Exuberant Neighborhood. Offered daily at 11 am and 1 pm from March 15 to November 15 (call for appointments during the off-season), this walking tour takes approximately 90 minutes and costs $20 per person. This tour gets its name from David Domine's popular book Old Louisville: Exuberant, Elegant, and Alive and the author himself might even show up and be your guide.
