The Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival, founded in 1931, is one of Kentucky's oldest festivals. The festival was started to honor 18th-century pioneer explorer Dr. Thomas Walker, an Englishman who led one of the first European expeditions through the Cumberland Gap. The festival's annual culmination is the celebrated queen's coronation, held at Laurel Cove Amphitheater of Pine Mountain State Resort Park, the commonwealth's oldest state park. Traditionally, Kentucky's governor crowns the queen with a garland made from the region's native mountain laurel. The elegant ceremony begins at 1:30 PM and the gate admission fee is $5.00 per person.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines and come on over! We will have scheduled times for crafts, activities for the kids, free historic tours, free putt-putt, pick the winner of the races contest, a support your favorite driver camper decoration contest and of course all the races will be on our satellite TV. We will also be hosting a blood drive with the Kentucky Blood Center. For registered campers only.

We will have haunted putt-putt and scheduled times for a camper decoration contest, costume contests, ghost walks, bean supper, pancake breakfast, parade, crafts, Pumpkin Express hayrides, pirate golf, live entertainment, trick or treating and lots, lots more. This event is for registered campers only. However, the public is invited to drive through in the evenings and look at all the decorations.

4:00 P.M. - 11:00 P.M. Bluegrass in the Park Folklife Festival, a celebration of the bluegrass heritage in Kentucky, features live music, crafts, food, sporting events and much more. Spend a day with kids at the Folklife Festival or settle into a lawn chair in our shaded riverfront park and listen to the sounds of bluegrass music. This festival also features a bicycle ride, interactive water fountains for children, a street pole vault competition and other events.
