Oldham Underground Railroad History Group Tours

Oldham County holds two designations by the National Park Service Underground Railroad Network to Freedom and carries the only Archives designation in the country. Various tours are conducted throughout the year, including archaeology digs on the Gatewood Plantation. Our newest addition is a newly discovered slave cemetery where events are also held. Oldham County Tourism plans group tours based on our Oldham County Underground Railroad heritage. Our Oldham County History Center executive director, Dr Nancy Theiss, has written the newest book, "A Tour on the Underground Railroad along the Ohio River" in which our tours are based upon.
