Multimillion dollar museum and education complex operated by the Kentucky Historical Society. Trace Kentucky’s 12,000-year history through more than 3,000 items in the signature exhibition, “A Kentucky Journey.” . It is home to an extensive research library open to researchers as well as the general public for genealogy search, and its exhibits  include the only known portraits of a 19th century African American couple. The Dorams, from the community of Danville, KY, amassed great wealth for the times.

Learn about Kentucky’s leaders in the Toyota Kentucky Hall of Governors. The Old State Capitol and Kentucky Military History Museum tours also begin here. Hours: The Hall of Governors and A Kentucky Journey are open Tues.–Sat., 10am– 5pm year-round, with extended hours each Thurs. until 8 p.m. from March-
