Centre Family Dwelling
The main dwelling buildings were named by their location—these Shakers making up the Centre “family.” Up to 100 members lived as brothers and sisters on opposite sides of this building, which contained 14 bedrooms, kitchens, a dining room, a cellar with food storage rooms, an infirmary and a large meeting room.

Since the Palisades are so remote with very little development nearby, many paddlers enjoy being more deeply immersed in nature, and connecting with new levels of solitude—not to mention, a higher likelihood of seeing wildlife, including bobcats, great blue heron, kingfishers, and peregrine falcons.
