National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR or SAR) was founded in 1889 and is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. SAR is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and promoting education to our future generations.

From across the country, library visitors come to the SAR Genealogical Research Library, located in a late 19th century building in the heart of Louisville’s “Museum Row.”

With over 55,000 items in the collection, there is something for even the most seasoned researcher to explore!
 Collections include George Washington Collection,10,000 Family Histories,15,000 State Records, with special emphasis on New England, SAR Patriot Index,Online databases of Ancestry, HeritageQuest, American Ancestors & Fold3
