Louisville Cemetery, located in Jefferson County near Germantown, was founded by prominent African American citizens in 1886, and holds the remains of many notable individuals from the city's African American community including educator Atwood Wilson, Dr. Robert B. Scott, co-founder of the Louisville Red Cross; William Walker, Sr., jockey, trainer and winner of the 1877 Kentucky Derby astride Baden-Baden; and blues musician Sylvester Weaver
