Louisville Downtown Civil Rights Markers Trail
4th Street, Downtown
The Louisville Civil Rights Trail was opened to the public in 2013. Originally the vision of the late Dr. J Blaine Hudson of the University of Louisville, the trail was created in a partnership between the university, local government and organizations. It includes 11 markers created by renowned sculptor Ed Hamilton, and located throughout downtown Louisville detailing sites and events which took place in the mid-20th century as part of the struggle for civil rights and desegregation in the city.Copies of the trail map are available at the Louisville Visitor Center or the website link below.
