East Kentucky Science Center & Planetarium

Location:
The East Kentucky Science Center and Planetarium located in Prestonsburg, KY is part of the Big Sandy Community and Technical College. It contains a 40 foot dome planetarium that seats 85 people, a 3000 square foot exhibition hall, a 60 seat classroom and a gift shop. The newly renovated Planetarium is now one of the most technologically advanced planetariums in the world. The stars are projected by the GOTO Chronos Spaceflight Simulator; an optical-mechanical projector which projects the stars as realistic looking as the actual night sky. The new Spitz SciDome HD "full dome" projection system lets the audience experience what it would be like flying through space to other worlds. The SkyLase laser system lets audiences view an infinite display of laser patters while listening to a variety of music. Enjoy fascinating planetarium shows, laser light music shows, and traveling exhibits, along with a gift shop full of unique items.
