Secretariat: A True Kentucky Legend

When it comes to the Kentucky Derby, Secretariat is the champion thoroughbred that stands above the rest. Exhibits at the Kentucky Derby Museum are full of Secretariat memorabilia, and you can visit the race track at Churchill Downs where “Big Red” ran the fastest Kentucky Derby, in 1973, setting the first stone in his Triple Crown win. Secretariat went on to win at the Belmont Stakes and Preakness Stakes, making him one of only a select handful of Triple Crown winners.
Tour the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington to learn more about horse racing, the Kentucky Derby and Secretariat's record-breaking Run for the Roses®. Don’t forget to have your photo taken next to the bold bronze statue that stands in his honor.

You can also take a tour of iconic Claiborne Farm in Paris, Kentucky, which is Secretariat's final resting place. Offered seven days a week, tours allow visitors to learn more about the farm's involvement with Secretariat, as well as see stallions at play and visit the breeding shed which has produced over 80 champion thoroughbreds.
