Trail Towns

Western Waterlands

Thousands of miles of trails and waterways criss-cross Kentucky, offering endless opportunities for long-distance adventures and day trips alike. Along these trails, numerous communities have been designated as Kentucky Trail Towns – places where you can find supplies and guides, lodging, a hearty meal and a friendly hello during your travels.

The state’s first certified Trail Town offers a host of outdoor adventures in the heart of Western Kentucky. Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, the 13-mile Pennyrile Nature Trial and Pennyrile Lake join Lake Beshear, Tradewater River and Jones Keeney Wildlife Management Area to create plenty of places to play just outside of town. Restaurants, hotels and outfitters in the city provide everything you need to complete your stay.
