Performing Arts

Looking for some drama? From Pikeville to Paducah, Kentucky is brimming with outstanding theaters and creative voices.

Enjoy a world-class performance at the Louisville Ballet for works commissioned by nationally recognized choreographers. Just down the road, the nationally renowned Actors Theatre of Louisville produces innovative productions - many of them world premiers - throughout the year. The Lexington Opera House is a beautifully restored historic venue known for a variety of performances, including Broadway shows and operas. The Kentucky Center, Carson Center, Norton Center for the Arts and Paramount Arts Center are just a few more great places across the state to get your performing arts fix.

Kentucky's many historic playhouses and outdoor amphitheatres, including the Pioneer Playhouse and Jenny Wiley Theatre, ooze Bluegrass charm. And if you're visiting in the summer, don't miss The Stephen Foster Story at My Old Kentucky Home State Park. Performed since 1959, the show features Foster classics such as "Oh! Susanna," "Camptown Races" and, of course "My Old Kentucky Home."
