On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will occur along a narrow path of totality in Kentucky. The best places to experience the total phase of the eclipse is Henderson and Paducah, but be sure to check out viewing spots in Morganfield and Sturgis in Western Kentucky, too.

Paducah

  • Paducah is set to commemorate this historic occasion with “X Marks the Spot” – an exciting community event and watch party attracting locals and visitors from all corners of the country. The festivities will feature watch parties, exclusive shopping deals, special “eclipse themed” culinary delights for foodies, and engaging family activities.
  • Adding to the excitement, Paducah's renowned National Quilt Museum has planned a special watch party on its expansive lawn, inviting everyone to lay out quilts and witness the eclipse in comfort. Additionally, they'll offer a hands-on quilt making project inspired by the eclipse.

Henderson

  • As the path of totality crosses Henderson, KY, downtown is gearing up for an incredible two-and-a-half-minute eclipse spectacle starting approximately at 2:02 p.m. Henderson warmly welcomes residents and visitors to experience this stellar event from prime viewing (and picnicking) spots at Audubon Mill and Red Banks parks, situated along the Ohio River.
  • For another captivating vantage point, make your way to John James Audubon State Park. With acres of woodlands, miles of nature trails and ADA-accessible pathways to a 750-foot boardwalk overlooking the picturesque Audubon Wetland, it's the ideal location for guests to immerse in the breathtaking beauty of the solar eclipse.

Morganfield

  • Morganfield is gearing up for the 2024 Eclipse with the Solar Eclipse Festival at Morganfield’s City Park. Mark your calendar for April 8, from 12:00-2:30 pm, where you'll be treated to live music, engaging family crafts, delicious food, and a celestial lineup featuring astronomers and storytellers.

Sturgis

  • Sturgis will partake in the celestial celebration at the Sturgis Airport’s Eclipse Viewing Party on April 8, 2024. Starting at 11:00 a.m., the unique and family-fun viewing party invites guests to indulge in delicious treats from a variety of food trucks, enjoy the lively tunes of a live band, and let little ones bounce around on the many inflatables. To ensure safe viewing of the event, be sure to purchase the NASA-approved glasses that will be available on-site. Witness the skies come alive as the International Comanche Chapter planes soar into the airport, adding a special touch to the celestial spectacle. Best of all, this event is entirely free! So, gather your friends, family, and fellow airplane- enthusiasts to partake in this fantastic celebration.

While you are in town, explore all the great things Kentucky has to offer. Horses, Bourbon Distilleries, great food and many other attractions.
