Horse Country Day Trip

Horse Country

Rolling along the hills of central Kentucky, we find the saying “it takes a village” rings true in Horse Country as we catch a glimpse of all stages of life, from breeding and babies at Claiborne Farm, and from new homes and retirement at New Vocations and Old Friends, where horses are treated like the personality-packed gems they are. Miss being trackside? Grab lunch in a restored bourbon-inspired train depot at Trackside at the Depot, giving double meaning to a favorite Kentucky pastime.

Old Friends Farm

Old Friends provides a dignified retirement to Thoroughbreds whose racing and breeding careers have come to an end. By promoting these one-time celebrated horses through a campaign of education and tourism, we hope to raise awareness of  all equines in need
