Located in the Western Waterlands region, Patti’s 1880 Settlement is one of the most popular restaurants in Kentucky, beloved for its family atmosphere, over-the-top holiday decorations and hearty, homespun recipes. This delectable sawdust pie is just one of those recipes. After a devastating fire in 2018, the restaurant has reopened, so you can tuck into all of your favorite pies and other Patti's favorites once again.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups coconut, flaked
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans
  • 7 egg whites, unbeaten
  • 9 inch unbaked pie shell
  • Sliced bananas
  • Whipped cream

Preparation

Mix first 5 ingredients together and stir by hand. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake in preheated 325 degree oven until gloss and set (about 25 to 30 minutes). DO NOT OVER BAKE. Center should be gooey. Serve warm with sliced bananas and whipped cream on top.
